Donation site set up for family affected by fatal Middletown fire

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH)– A local organization is trying to help raise money for a family affected by a deadly fire in Middletown over the weekend.

Two women died after a fire broke out in a home on Barbara Road Saturday morning. The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Middletown set up a “Go Fund Me” site to help the family that lost everything.

News 8 spoke with a man who says his son is hospitalized at the Bridgeport burn unit. Joe Micale also told us it was his daughter-in-law and a family friend who were killed.

Both families had young children but the children were not home at the time.

“The girl who died downstairs who was trapped, she left a son also but he was not with her,” said Micale.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. They say it looks like it started around the chimney in the living room.
