Most main roads clear, side roads still slick

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Be sure to take it easy if you have to head out this morning. Some roads are still slick.

This snow is a more packing snow that what we’ve seen lately so it’ll be different under your tires. Most of the main roads have been treated so they are clear with maybe some slush.

The side roads are where you really have to be careful because the snow isn’t blowing around and it’s closer to freezing so that packed down layer before the plows came through is what will be slippery

It’s going to melt throughout the morning so the longer you wait for that and the plows, it’ll be an easier commute. If you must travel, leave early, go slow and leave extra stopping room.

News 8’s Kent Pierce gave us a look at conditions outside in the video.
