Police searching for escaped convict accused of robbing at least 5 different banks

Jennifer Labbe

CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) – Inside the Cromwell Police Department Captain Denise Lamontagne is delivered a message, she thinks investigators have discovered the woman responsible for a string of robberies that took place in February.

“Through DNA, the laboratory identified the suspect as Jennifer Labbe,” said Lamontagne.

Unfortunately, Lamontagne says Labbe’s current whereabouts aren’t known.

From February 6th through the 17th, police say the 27-year-old robbed banks in East Hartford, Vernon, Wallingford, Wethersfield, and at the Webster bank in Cromwell.

Prior to that crime spree, Labbe served time at York Correctional for a burglary conviction. She had been released in late January to a work release home in Hartford, called “Hartford house,” but on the 24th of that month she went AWOL.

Police tell News 8 Labbe was not wearing an ankle monitor when she left the facility and a Department of Correction spokesperson informed us they aren’t the ones who oversee operations there. We however were able to get in touch with those who do at Community Solutions, Inc. A spokesperson there tells us, for a resident to leave, they are required to get permission to do so and sign out. It’s unclear if Labbe did that, but the spokesperson says as soon as they realized she was gone, they notified her parole officer.

Police say Labbe is known to frequent the Thomaston, Waterbury, and the Hartford areas. Anyone with information about where she may be is being asked to get in touch with Cromwell Police.
