Waterbury man arrested for ‘Subway’ robbery

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) — A Waterbury man is facing charges after police say he robbed a Subway sandwich shop in Naugatuck, and is suspected of a handful of other local robberies.

46-year-old Anthony Igaunis is charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. Police say he robbed the Subway on Old Waterbury Road on February 25. According to officials, he showed a handgun and stole a small amount of cash from the restaurant but was identified before he made his escape.

Waterbury police officers arrested Igaunis at his home on Old Colony Drive in Waterbury. Upon his arrest, they found a BB gun, cash and a red SUV that was used as a suspected getaway vehicle in several area robberies.

Igauanis confessed in a recorded statement, to the robbery at Subway.
