WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (WTNH) — Two drivers are hospitalized following a rollover accident on Route 63 near Clark Road in Woodbridge Wednesday morning.

Police say 60-year-old Robert Johnson of Hamden was traveling north when he crossed into the southbound lane around 7 a.m., hitting 54-year-old Matthew Casso’s minivan. The truck turned over onto its side after the impact.

The Woodbridge Fire Department had to extricate Casso, of Naugatuck, from his minivan, according to police.

Both Casso and Johnson were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries, police say. Yale-New Haven says Casso is in critical condition while Johnson is still being evaluated.

Amity Road (Route 63) was closed for about an hour and has been reopened.

The accident remains under investigation.
