Part of roof collapses at New Haven company

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven company fell victim to Wednesday’s heavy snow melt.

Part of the roof collapsed at the A. Thompson-Allen Company on Welton Street around 3:30 p.m.

The fire department says they expect to see more of this as the winter wraps up.

“It appears that in the middle portion of the building behind me we had a partial building collapse of the roof and the rear wall, probably due to the snow load,” said New Haven Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Marcarelli. “We’re probably going to be seeing a lot of that if the weather keeps up the way it is.”

Only two workers were in the building at the time. They were not hurt.
