Slippery conditions, ponds along roads make for difficult travel

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– A mix of rain, snow, and slush is making for slippery conditions and deep ponds on the roads this morning. And we want you to be prepared when you head out the door.

Most roads are covered in slush and when it gets frozen over in the coming days, it’ll be more of a mess because there is no more place for the snow and water to go.

There is also a lot deep ponds forming along the roads from the snow collecting in storm drains and water backing up, making it difficult to cross streets at intersections and where there are dips in the road. It’ll get deeper as the day goes on.

News 8’s Kent Pierce was in our mobile weather lab in Waterbury with a look at the roads.
