West Haven Woman Assaults Police

West Haven, Conn. (WTNH) –A 19-year-old West Haven woman is facing charges accused of assaulting a police officer who was serving a search warrant on Wednesday.

West Haven police were assisting State Police at a home on Phillips Terrace around 11:30 a.m. when Jasmin Turpin, of Morse Avenue, approached the officer and said police were probably there for her because she had a warrant, police said.

Police say she became impatient while state police executed the warrant and began to interfere with the search. As police tried to move Turpin to another area of the house, that’s when police say, she assaulted the officer.

Turpin was arrested and charged with interfering with police, assault and the failure to appear on a warrant.

She is due in court on March 17.
