New London Police identify shooting victim, investigation continues

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — New London Police have identified the victim of Saturday morning’s shooting as 31 year old Floyd Fooks.

According to police, they were called to 37 Spring Street at 2:15 a.m. after reports of several shots being fired. Officers arrived on the scene moments later and found Fooks unresponsive inside a basement apartment. Police say he had been shot several times.

Fooks was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3 a.m.

New London detectives are expected to attend an autopsy on Sunday to determine exactly how Fooks died.

The shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information can contact the New London Police Department anonymously at (860) 447-5269.
