Sen. McCain to meet with Connecticut Ukrainian community

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Arizona Sen. John McCain is visiting with Ukrainian residents in Connecticut to discuss the ongoing violence in Ukraine.

The Republican will join Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, a Democrat, at the Ukrainian National Home in Hartford on Monday morning. The two senators, who served together on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will later meet with the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce in Cromwell. Both have traveled to the Ukraine together on several trips.

Murphy and McCain plan to hold a forum to discuss the ongoing war between Ukrainian troops and Russia-backed separatists, the role of the U.S. and the importance of ending violence in the region.

McCain is expected to discuss his new book, “Thirteen Soldiers,” during the chamber event. The book details the personal accounts of 13 American soldiers.
