HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Norwalk man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for illegal gun sales.
Federal prosecutors say 22-year-old Raul Caban-Martes was sentenced Monday to three years and four months behind bars and three years of probation.
Prosecutors say between August 2013 and January 2014, Caban-Martes and others sold five firearms, ammunition and a bulletproof vest to a convicted felon, knowing that the purchaser intended to sell the firearms to others.
He pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing in firearms without a license.
In December 2014, while he was in federal custody, Caban-Martes also instructed family members to conceal another firearm so that he could sell the weapon upon his release.
