Warrant issued for second suspect in Milford attempted robbery, shooting

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An arrest warrant has been issued for the second suspect involved in an attempted robbery and shooting, Milford police say.

Police say 22-year-old Daniel “DJ” Spencer ran from a New Haven Avenue parking garage in the early morning hours of March 1 after he and Rumone Richard confronted a group of people and demanded their belongings.

According to police, Richard pointed a gun at the group, then opened fire, hitting one victim in the neck. They say another person in the group then shot Richard in self-defense, using a licensed gun.

Richard has been released from the hospital and turned over to the Department of Corrections, officials say. He’s scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court Wednesday.

According to police, Spencer’s last known address is on Avon Street in Ansonia. They say he has seven other arrest warrants for unrelated incidents.
