One man dead after exposure to hazardous materials

LISBON, Conn. (WTNH) – One man is dead after he was exposed to hazardous chemicals earlier today, State Police say.

The New London Fire Department, State Police bomb squad, and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to a hazardous materials situation near Route 12 in Lisbon Saturday afternoon.

Police say one person was sent to Backus Hospital where he died.

The investigation is ongoing.
