St. Baldrick’s Head-Shaving for Cancer Research

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – On this St. Patrick’s Day, there was a hair raising event in Hartford all in the name of finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Thirty volunteers today raised money collecting pledges to brave the shave at Wood N Tap in Hartford which hosted the St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event. Those volunteers had their heads shaved to stand in solidarity with children fighting cancer. The goal to raise $25,000 for lifesaving childhood cancer research. Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes, and one in five children diagnosed in the U.S. will not survive.

The event today honored a 7 year old girl who is in remission after being diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in 2011.
