Arrest made in murder of Hartford woman


HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A Hartford man was arrested for the murder of a woman who was shot in the head inside her home on Tuesday.

38-year-old Anthony Pernell was arrested for murder, as well as on numerous firearm and narcotics charges.

Police say on Tuesday afternoon, they responded to 48 Congress Street to the report of a person shot. When they arrived, officers found a 30-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot to the head. EMS arrived and pronounced her dead.

Congress Street was shut down for a few hours following the shooting.

Police then detained two men who were also in the residence. After an investigation, Pernell was charged.

The name of the victim is unknown at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
