MONROE, Conn. (WTNH) — A Monroe father is facing charges for accidentally shooting his young son.

Police say Vincent Pizzolato, 44, was actually securing a pair of pistols at the time. Pizzolato checked one of the guns, and thinking it was unloaded, pulled the trigger. A bullet ended up going through a wall and striking Pizzolato’s young son in the face.

The boy will make a full recovery, but now his father is facing charges.

Pizzolato is being charged with unlawful discharge, reckless endangerment, and assault. He’s out on promise to appear in court and due in court March 25.
