New Haven, Conn. (WTNH)- A big high school basketball invitational, honoring a legendary former coach, is set for March 28th at Wilbur Cross High School to raise money for college bound scholar-athletes. Bob Saulsbury spent 28 years as head basketball coach at Cross. His teams racked up nine state titles and one national championship.
Neil Richardson, a member of the Saulsbury Scholarship Committee said the coach had a positive impact on his teams long after their playing days were over ‘I think his demeanor, he’s humble and he’s always trying to help folks and of course at Cross we had a winning streak and I think that helped too’. The Robert Saulsbury Basketball Invitational will feature both boys and girls teams.
