WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A West Haven man has been arrested after falsely collecting unemployment compensation benefits.
According to the Connecticut Department of Criminal Justice, 41 year old Miguel Munoz falsely claimed nearly $12,000 worth of unemployment benefits from November 2011 through June 2012 by using a social security number that wasn’t his. He was charged with larceny first by defrauding a public community and unemployment compensation fraud.
The arrest was the result of an investigation by the office of the chief state’s attorney after they received a complaint by the state’s Department of Labor, according to the release.
Munoz was arrested by inspectors from the unemployment compensation fraud unit with help from the West Haven police department and the department of homeland security. He is due in court on March 26.
