Protest at New Haven police headquarters after viral video

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police in New Haven are dealing with a large protest outside of their headquarters today.

Protesters gathered at 5:30 p.m. They are unhappy after video surfaced of Teandrea Cornelius, 15, being thrown to the ground while being arrested during the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.

A high ranking source within the New Haven police department told News 8 that Cornelius had been using pepper spray in Buffalo Wild Wings, and that she had a knife.

The incident is under review by the police internal affairs department.
