Bethany brothers charged in bank robbery near their homes

BETHANY, Conn. (WTNH) — Two Bethany brothers were arrested Thursday, charged with robbing a bank about a mile from their homes Saturday.

Police say 31-year-old Thomas Yorkshaitis Jr. held up a Webster Bank on Amity Road around 11:25 a.m. They say he fled in a waiting vehicle driven by his brother, 27-year-old Nicholas Yorkshaitis of Litchfield Turnpike.

The Beacon Road man is charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery. His bond was set at $200,000.

The younger brother is charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. His bond was set at $100,000.

Both men are scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court Friday.
