New Haven 3rd-grader’s life honored

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The life of a third-grader who died last week after falling unconscious on a school bus was remembered in New Haven Thursday.

The group called “Teach Our Children and Youth Unleashed” held a book giveaway in honor of eight-year-old TaLea’s life for her fellow students at Lincoln-Bassett Elementary School. The kids also signed a sympathy card for the girl’s family.

“This isn’t about blaming, but this is all about TaLea’s family. But understand we will be looking at school transportation policies, which isn’t just about bus safety. We have children who walk miles.”

It’s still unknown what caused TaLea to go unconscious on her ride home from school.

It’s been reported the bus driver was unaware anything was wrong.

The investigation is on going.
