STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An elderly Stamford woman whose son police say badly beat her Monday has died from her injuries.
According to police, 42-year-old Timothy Anderson punched 76-year-old Maryanne Anderson in the face repeatedly after she and her other son confronted him about not taking his medication.
The elderly woman had emergency surgery at Stamford Hospital to remove part of her skull to relieve pressure on her brain, according to officials. They say she was then placed in a coma and on a ventilator. Police say she took a turn for the worse while in the hospital, with doctors finding significant bleeding on her brain. She died Thursday afternoon.
Timothy Anderson is charged with with first-degree assault of an elderly person, third-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, and disorderly conduct, but charges may be upgraded. He appeared in court Tuesday and is being held on $500,000 bond.
