Thousands without power in Hartford & West Hartford, may take hours to fix

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – An underground electrical issue left thousands of Eversource customers without power in Hartford and West Hartford. At one point, more than 8,000 customers were without power. That number has come down.

Eversource says the outages happened Saturday right around midnight along Farmington Avenue in Hartford. There was an electrical problem inside an underground utility vault. It caused a small explosion and then a fire.

Crews have been on scene since the issue happened trying to fix the problem and restore power to the thousands of customer that are impacted.

As of 11:45 p.m., Eversource is reporting 21 outages in Hartford and 10 outages in West Hartford.

As crews work on the problem, Farmington Avenue is shutdown near Sisson Avenue.
