Armed robber holds up Stonington bank

STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are looking for the armed man who robbed a Stonington bank Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the suspect went into the Dime Savings Bank at 1 Cannon Square around 1:40 p.m., showed a handgun, and demanded money. They say he made off with an undetermined amount of money, fleeing in an unknown direction.

Police describe the suspect as a black or Hispanic male between 5’5″ and 5’8″ tall with a medium to stocky build and a gray goatee. They say he was wearing a dark-colored stocking cap, and a dark-colored hoodie with a light gray shirt underneath.

Anyone with information about this bank robbery is asked to call Stonington police at (860) 599-4411.
