Former New London-based serviceman charged with child exploitation

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — A former member of the U.S. Navy who was stationed in New London is being charged with child exploitation.

Adam M. Simpson, 28, is accused of enticing minors into sexually explicit acts as well as receiving and possessing child pornography.

Simpson was arraigned in Hartford on Monday. He’s accused of using video chatting services to record minors as they engaged in sex acts. Simpson’s also accused of threatening to release those videos if the minors didn’t perform the acts.

Simpson is facing up to 50 years in prison if he’s convicted. He’s being held in custody.
