Obama to deliver commencement address at Coast Guard Academy

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — President Barack Obama will visit Connecticut next month to deliver a commencement address at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The graduation ceremony is scheduled for May 20 at the academy in New London.

By tradition the president delivers a commencement address at one of the U.S. service academies on a rotating basis. The White House says the president is honored to participate in the 134th commencement at the Coast Guard Academy.

The school is the smallest of the nation’s five service academies. Cadets receive full scholarships and graduate with an obligation to serve five years in the Coast Guard.
