BALTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — State police are looking for the man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl who suffers from a brain injury.
Police say 44-year-old Greg Butts assaulted the juvenile in Baltic on March 28th. He is very well known in town, but now he’s no where to be found.
“It’s sad, it really is, but he’s been trouble from day one,” said Pat Deslandes of Baltic
She’s lived in Baltic for 56 years and knows Butts, like many in town.
“I think it’s disgusting,” said Deslandes. “They had him in jail before. They should just take the key and throw it away.”
Others though say Butts has always been a good guy. Kristina Hall knows him and his family.
“I’ve a very good mommy gut, so I never would have thought of anything like that,” she said.
But police now have an arrest warrant for Butts, charging him with sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. They are not releasing any details of the assault.
“It’s terrible to think that these predators are out there everywhere, and you don’t know it,” said Joyce Lavell of Lisbon. “It could be anybody.”
One woman says SWAT teams were in town at his mother’s house in search of him last week.
Police describe Butts as a 5’10” tall, white man weighing 160 pounds. They say he has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to call State Police at (860) 896-3208 or (860) 848-6548 and reference case number CFS15-170027.
