TOLLAND & WINDHAM COUNTIES, Conn. (WTNH) — State police are investigating an increased number of thefts involving dirt bikes and four-wheelers in several towns in April.

A person or people have broken into residential garages, sheds, and barns in Mansfield, Ashford, Stafford, Thompson and Killingly in the overnight hours starting at the beginning of the month, according to police. They say the suspect(s) have sometime used force to gain entry.

The ATVs stolen have been Honda dirt bikes, and Honda and Suzuki quads, most recently primarily red and yellow in color, officials say.

State police remind residents to store valuables out of sight and in a locked area.

Anyone with information about these thefts or any suspicious behavior is asked to contact Trooper Tyler Weerden at (860) 896-3200 ext. 8045.
