Tonight Bruce Jenner opened up in an exclusive ABC Interview with Diane Sawyer about his true self. At age 65 he’s admitting his life long gender struggle.

“For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman,” Jenner told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in a special two-hour edition of ABC News’ 20/20.

It’s a bombshell interview from the man once known as the World’s Greatest Athlete. “People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life — it is part of me,” Jenner said. “That female side is part of me. That’s who I am.”

And Twitter reaction was immediate showing support.

Perez Hilton posted: So happy for mainstream audiences to learn that sexuality and gender identity are two different things! #BruceJennerABC

Lady Gaga tweeted: I pray this Sawyer/Jenner interview will be met with compassion. This is an important world issue. #BeBraveEnoughToBeKind

Andy Cohen tweeted: I feel horrible for the pain #BruceJenner has been through. He has been hunted by the very beast he was a (reluctant??) part of. Awful.

Bruce Jenner told Sawyer this would be his last interview as a male. And he’s opened eyes, educating millions, about what it means to transition to a gender you’ve hidden for so long.
