BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A Bridgeport man faces several drug charges after police say they found almost 3 pounds of cocaine hidden in a box of mangos.
Police tell the Connecticut Post (http://bit.ly/1Dj8zpD ) they received a tip that 61-year-old Enrique Pineiro had just received a large shipment of drugs.
Police say when they went to his home Thursday, his girlfriend told them the only package he had gotten was a box of mangos from Puerto Rico.
Police opened the box and found 2.8 pounds of prepackaged cocaine.
Pineiro is charged with possession of more than a kilogram of cocaine with intent to sell. He was freed after posting a $50,000 bond.
Attempts to reach him for comment Friday morning were not successful. A listed phone number was no longer in service.
