Man, 81, found drowned in Stafford

STAFFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – State Police are investigating a drowning that happened in the Willimantic River.  Troop C was called to the area next to the Town of Stafford Commuter Lot on River Road around six o’clock in the evening on Thursday.

Police found the body of a six foot tall white man with green eyes and white hair.  They’ve identified him as 81-year-old Jacob Wytas.  Police believe Wytas had been fishing along the bank near the Commuter Lot and somehow fell into the river.

State Police are now asking anyone who had contact or saw Wytas between the hours of 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM to contact them.  You can call Troop C at (860) 896-3200 extension 8045
