PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Plainfield man was arrested Thursday after a lengthy investigation into the abuse of his three-month-old baby.
Police say the investigation, which began on December 3, 2014 after the infant was taken to Backus Hospital and injuries were found, showed a history of unexplained injuries on the baby. They say 26-year-old Shawn Siegrist, the father, was involved in inflicting those injuries.
The Cranska Drive man is charged with second-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. He’s being held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court Friday.
State police say the infant is safe.
