Driver killed in I-691 tractor trailer crash

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– A man has died after his car was pinned under a tractor trailer on I-691 in Southington Monday morning.

Police say Life Star responded to the accident around 8 a.m. and landed right on the highway to transport the 52-year-old man to the hospital, where he later died. The victim has not been identified at this time.

State police say the car went right under the tractor trailer by exits 3 and 4 on I-691 eastbound.

Both sides of the highway were shut down for a while for accident reconstruction but have since been reopened.
