Community celebrates after Guilford’s Nick Fradiani wins American Idol

GUILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Guilford’s Nick Fradiani is your American Idol! The hometown boy took the Season 14 crown Wednesday night, becoming the first American Idol to hail from Connecticut.

Folks all across the shoreline are certainly proud of him, catching “Fradiani Fever” as he continued on in the show.

“Nick Fradiani is the best. He’s my idol, our idol.”

“He’s just proof that he’s from our small town of Guilford and he’s here, he’s made it,” said Guilford’s Christy Stoddard.

“He’s a very humble person and very well-liked, a likable person,” said Anne Barthelemy of Branford.

Millions watched the finale. Among them was a crowd that saw it all on a big screen in a the parking lot of St. George’s Church near the Guilford Green.

“We just thought that having made it this far, we need to come together as a community and celebrate,” said Dee Jacob, one of the event’s organizers.

Everything at the event was free: admission, hot dogs, pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, thanks to the generosity of local business owners.

“I think we’re all proud of Nick and we hope he wins it all,” said Ray Rosa of The Marketplace.

They hoped and were rewarded. Nick Fradiani, a small Connecticut town’s favorite son, is the American Idol.
