West Haven, Conn. (WTNH)- Connecticut’s senior United States senator is demanding that the Veteran’s Administration find the billion dollars needed to finish construction on a troubled medical facility in Denver.

Senator Richard Blumenthal told a senate committee that the cost overrun at the Colorado facility threatens to cause indefinite delays in construction at other VA facilities, including the hospital in West Haven. Blumenthal told members of the Senate committee on Veterans Affairs ‘Veterans in my state who are aware of this proposal are outraged that their health care, specifically primary care at the West Haven facility, would be indefinitely deferred because of  one billion cost overruns in Aurora, Colorado’.

News 8 reported last week that the West Haven VA hospital had been approved for a five million dollar upgrade, but now that funding is in jeopardy because of the bailout plan for the Colorado facility.
