HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– The Hartford City Council will be holding a public hearing Monday evening in regards to the city’s crackdown on illegal ATV riders.

Officials in Hartford are trying to make it more complicated for ATV riders to be able to fuel their vehicles at gas stations, as well as create stiff penalties for riders, according to city council documents.

Part of the proposal will make it illegal for gas stations to sell fuel to anyone using an unauthorized vehicle, including adding signs stating “fueling of unauthorized vehicles prohibited”.

According to officials, any owners of gas stations who sell fuel to anyone using ATVs can also face charges, including a $99 penalty and community service hours.
