Police investigate stabbing at New Haven Dunkin’ Donuts

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police are investigating a stabbing at a local Dunkin’ Donuts. It happened early Monday morning.

Police were called to the scene at 105 Derby Avenue at 5:39a.m., after someone called 911 reporting a stabbing. A customer at the doughnut shop, William Sweat, 37, told police he’d been in line at the counter when a Hispanic man whom he had not seen before, approached him, and stabbed him in the back.

As officers were investigating, a witness notified police the suspect was sitting across the street.

Holger Ojeda, 34, of 1038 Campbell Avenue in West Haven was arrested. Police say he confessed to officers about the stabbing. Police have not yet released the charges he is facing.

Sweat was taken by ambulance to Yale – New Haven hospital where he underwent surgery. He is listed in stable condition.
