House Fire Possibly Caused by Lightning Strike

Torrington, Conn. (WTNH) – Firefighters battled a house fire on Weed Road last night.  They got a call around 9:30 p.m.  When they arrived, they say there was heavy smoke showing from the peak of the roof. Luckily the family was already out of the house.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the attic.  They were able to knock it all down within twenty minutes of arriving to the scene.  There was a report of a lightning strike last night.  News 8 spoke with the dispatcher who says it appears that lightning appears to have caused this house fire.  We later talked to a fire official who confirmed that the fire was caused by lightning.

There are no reports of any injuries. After the fire was extinguished, the family was able to go back inside their home.
