Man sentenced for Haddam arson

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Virginia man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for setting fire to his brother’s house.

It happened October 16 on Candlewood Hill Road. Crews were called to the house for a suspicious fire and found the house in flames and a barn already burned to the ground. Police say Ronald Carlson, 51, told State Troopers he had set the fire and the house belonged to his brother.

Carlson pleaded guilty to burglary, arson, and criminal mischief. He was sentenced to 5 years each for burglary and criminal mischief plus 150 months for the arson. He’ll serve the terms concurrently.
