MADISON, Conn. (WTNH) — Campers filled Hammonasset State Park for the holiday weekend, and they aren’t giving up just because record low temperatures are possible.
There are the typical sites: people grilling, spending time with one another, and just having a good time. That’s not too different than is to be expected this time of year, but just how cold things are going to get is.
Overnight temperatures are supposed to get into the 40’s, but many are prepared for the cooler nights.
“We have our sleeping bags, the zero below; it will take us down as far as zero,” said Yvonne from Hamden. “We hope it doesn’t get down that cold, so we should be fine, and a lot of comforters, a lot of pillows, and we’re good.”
Some other ways campers plan to keep warm include staying close to a campfire, sleeping off the ground, and using a heater.
