Suspect armed with handgun holds up Avon bank

AVON, Conn. (WTNH) — A man with a gun robbed a bank in Avon Saturday morning.

At about 10:40 a.m., police say the suspect held up the Northwest Community Bank at 101 Simsbury Road and left with an undetermined amount of cash.

Authorities describe the suspect as a male wearing blue pants, a hoodie with the hood up, a baseball hat with a tan-colored rim, a dark puffy-style jacket, and a dark bandana partially covering his face. They believe he left the bank in a vehicle, but a description of it was not provided.
