Deadly Accident on Route 9

Deep River, Conn. (WTNH) – Police are investigating after a deadly accident happened on Route 9 on Saturday.  Police tell News 8 that a car was traveling in the left lane southbound when the driver, Patrick Campbell lost control.   Investigators say Campbell’s vehicle hit the median just south of Exit 5, and then hit a rock ledge.  That’s when the vehicle rolled on its side and caught on fire.

The Essex and Deep River Fire Departments rushed to the scene to put out the fire.  Campbell died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident. Right now the cause of the crash is being looked at.
