WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A man wanted by West Haven police since last week, for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman is now in custody.
Police say last Thursday 20-year-old Steven Gary, of Hamden, dragged the pregnant woman down a flight of steps by her hair and then restrained and struck her in the face several times.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Gary left before police arrived, but an anonymous tip led to his arrest. He has been charged with 3rd degree assault, unlawful restraint, and disorderly conduct.
Police say he also had two outstanding warrants for parole violation. He’s being held on bond.
