MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH)– Police are investigating after a hail of bullets were fired overnight in Middletown.

The shooting happened on Middletown Avenue near Ellis Street just before 2 in the morning. Cops say they found 30 shell casings on the ground at the driveway of 466 Midletown Avenue and more on the roadway toward Ellis Street.

Several buildings were reportedly hit by bullets but luckily nobody was shot. Cops say they got several calls from people who heard the gunfire.

News 8 was at the scene this morning talking to neighbors.

“To come out here and fire up a whole area, not knowing you can hit anybody innocently sleeping or anything like that,” said Vinnie, a neighbor. “I hope they can find out who did it.”

Detectives are at the scene searching for more evidence.
