FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Fairfield and Bridgeport fire crews are still extinguishing hot spots after a large fire on Thorpe Street, fire officials say.
According to authorities, firefighters were called to the site of the former Fairfield Lumber around 7 p.m. after smoke was seen rising from a warehouse. They say the fire spread to other warehouses before it was under control around 10 p.m.
A viewer sent Report-It videos to News 8 that show an apparent explosion, flames shooting through a roof, and smoke billowing into the air.
Officials say all Fairfield Fire Department apparatus and several pieces of equipment from Bridgeport responded to the scene. They say crews from Westport, Norwalk, Easton, and Stratford provided coverage at stations.
No injuries have been reported.
The fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the blaze.
