Man charged with vandalizing Torrington church

TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Jersey man allegedly vandalized a Torrington church Thursday morning.

Police say officers responded to St. Francis Church on Main Street after a fire alarm was activated, and discovered the church was extensively damaged through vandalism.

Shumel Pollen, 33, is charged with desecration of property, first-degree criminal mischief, and breach of peace. The Rockway, N.J. man was held on $25,000 bond.
