BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) — Police arrested a man after responding to reports of a domestic assault at a home on Stafford Avenue in Bristol Wednesday night.
According to officials, Aaron Werner, 37, of Bristol, stabbed another male several times with an “edge-typed instrument”. It happened inside the home at 1204 Stafford Avenue, just before 7 pm.
The victim was transported to Saint Francis Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Officials say he has since been released from the hospital.
Officials have not yet identified the victim, nor the relationship between the two.
Werner fled the scene after the incident, police said. Officers began the investigation and the search for Werner by using K-9 dogs to track his scent.
While officers were still on scene, Werner returned to the Stafford Avenue home just before 10:45 pm. After police ordered the suspect to stop, Werner refused and led officers on a brief chase into a wooded area, according to officials.
The suspect assaulted three police officers while being taken into custody, officials said.
Werner was arrested and is being charged with first degree criminal attempt at assault, second degree assault, interfering with an emergency phone call and three counts of assault on a police officer.
He is being held on $250,000 bond.
