New Britain man arrested for manslaughter

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH)– A New Britain man was arrested Saturday morning after he allegedly caused a man to fall from a third floor window and die.

According to police, officers were called out a home on Beatty Street after receiving a call in regards to the fall.

Police say they found a man on the driveway suffering from an apparent serious head injury. The man was pronounced dead by New Britain EMS shortly after they arrived.

Police tell News 8 an initial investigation found that there was a disturbance in the apartment before the victim fell.

Officers identified 23 year old Harvey Carr was the possible suspect. Officers located Carr in the area of Main and East Main Street later on in the morning.

Police say they were able to develop probable cause and were able to charge Carr with manslaughter in the first degree. The fight between Carr and the victim allegedly caused the victim to fall from the window, according to police.

The incident is not considered to be a random act, as both Carr and the victim knew each other.
