New Haven teen drowns at Watertown park

WATERTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) – A New Haven teen drowned in a Watertown park on Sunday night.

On Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 7:00 pm, the Watertown Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a male party in distress at Slades Pond in Sylvan Lake Park, who was later pronounced dead.

The male victim was identified as 19 year old Jabree Bryant of New Haven. Police arrived on scene and immediately entered the water in an attempt to locate the boy. Witnesses stated that they had seen him jump off of the large rock on the north side of the pond, submerge underwater, and did not come up.

Fire Department personnel began arriving on scene as well as the Region Five Dive Team which ultimately made entry into the water. Divers from the Dive Team ultimately were able to locate Bryant who was unresponsive and not breathing.

CPR was started immediately. Bryant was transported by AMR Ambulance to Waterbury Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time after arrival.
