Bear sighting in Naugatuck, police warning residents

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) – The Naugatuck Police Department are warming residents there have been bear sightings throughout the town.

Police say at 9:20 a.m. police were made aware of a  bear sighting in the area of Birch Lane on the west side of town.

While police tried locating and tracking the bear, they saw the bear entered the wooded area near Deepwood Road.

A Connecticut alert message was sent out by police to resident in that area and were made aware of the roaming bear an d to take precautions such as making certain that pets are indoors, that doors to residences were closed and to not attempt to approach the bear.
